Re: Any Boss Pedals work in the JVM Loop?

Against my better judgement - I use a Boss PS-6 in the loop. Mainly because it sounds atrocious in front of the amp (pre-distortion) it sounds like a really, really bad ring modulator in front, but pretty good in the loop! Having said that, I have the loop set on -10dB, and the Boss is last in chain...

Re: Ditching the JVM

I just bought a used Marshall DSL40CR at Guitarcenter and have been blown away by its superior response and tone. I don't need any pedals whatsover and able to play it without effort. I can get all of the crisp squeaky tones. I feel I had to push the JVM410 a lot but with little response and just d...

Re: Modded JVM410 - Vintagey sound

Too violently = I am not fond of fast solo guitar sounds on high strings and higher frets if there is no backing sound, like second guitar or keyboard/organ or maybe some other instrument that suits well in the paticular mix. The sound you have I do like, but "alone" in the mix it's too much "direc...

Re: I hate it when people say....

OK - I'm out of here! I started a discussion about simple low gain amps (like the Origin to give one example - NOT the JVM) - which need transistorised pedals to sound half decent) Vs an all in one, all valve multi-channel package which is the JVM. This was not about single channel amps per se , and...

Re: Modded JVM410 - Vintagey sound

This is a clip of my modded JVM410 which I think demonstrates how much more "vintage" sounding it is compared to stock. The recording is raw, un-processed and was recorded from my cab mic'ed up at a pub gig.... Main channels in use (if memory serves) are Crunch Orange, OD1 Orange and OD2 Orange htt...

Re: I hate it when people say....

Dalycro - I don't take it personally, and I am completely confident in my choice of set up and the sounds I am getting - I don't even care whether anyone else likes my sound LOL! (fortunately a lot of folks do!...) - it's the sound I always wanted and I am happy with it! "Spacerocker: 0 : Greg_L: 1 ...

Re: Thinking about getting a 410H.....again

I remember your comparison video - it was great!

I had a 2203 for 25 years before getting the JVM. I haven't played it since, although to be fair, a lot of the JVM mods I have done were aimed at getting a more "2203" sound and feel, particularly on the "Crunch" channel....

Re: Hello from Bristol, UK

Hi - I'm from Rugby in the UK! I've had my amp almost exactly 10 years now, and in that time only 2 things have gone wrong with it: 1) A pre-amp valve failed about 2 months after I increased some of the plate resistor values to 100K (2203 Levels) - apparently this can place more stress on a valve - ...

Re: OD2 to OD1

That's true - I hadn't thought of that (mainly because I leave my loop on all the time!) - but yes, good point!

Re: OD2 to OD1

Yes - but if you put it in front of the amp, or in the loop (better) - it will affect ALL your channels not just the OD channel. This may or may not be a good thing (depending on your outlook!) I am a big fan of having EQ in the loop....

Re: jvm 205 or 410?

Thanks. I don't know if i really need it and if the od2 is really different and not able to deliver classic sounds as someone say.. i mean i need 3 sounds 410 definitely - it can give you - CLEAN, CRUNCH, HI-GAIN Rhythm Channel (OD1) and a lead channel (OD2) - at least that's how I use it! Buy what...
