Re: JVM205H in the "Classic Rock" mode

Sorry I'm late on this... The DAW is Sonar by Cakewalk. I mastered in the box. I'm certain I put an L2 on the master buss for overall loudness. There's some post eq on the guitar tracks but I'd have to look as to what I did. I straight-up wanted to emulate brother Gibbons on this! I did mention that...

Re: JVM & TELECASTERS?

I own a JVM 205H. I also have a G&L S500 that came with those pickups. I've since changed them out- a few times with various pickups- and have settled on the Mojotone '68's for that guitar. My experience was the G&L pickups were just a bit too dark for MY taste. Now with the JVM I believe it will be...

Re: Connecting a 1936 and an Avatar Cab to my JVM205H

Funny but I happened to check the back of the 1936 and sure enough there's an 8 ohm mono input (never noticed it because the note is on top of the plug and not very visible). So yes, the JVM does work fine when I plug each cab into the two-eight ohm outputs.

Re: Connecting a 1936 and an Avatar Cab to my JVM205H

Yeah, I believe the safest way to do it is to get a Y cable for the 1936. Then plug it from the 1936 (which would then be 8 ohms) and the Avatar (8 ohms) into the 2x8 ohm inputs on the JVM. Thanks for the help.

Re: Connecting a 1936 and an Avatar Cab to my JVM205H

the 1936 has two 16 ohm inputs. The Avatar has one 8 ohm input. So a total of 3 inputs to the JVM.

Connecting a 1936 and an Avatar Cab to my JVM205H

I looked at the speaker connecting guide in this section and it was helpful but I may have a unique situation. I want to connect a Marshall 1936 (two separate 16-ohm inputs) AND an Avatar 4X12 that's wired 8 ohms with only one input. So that's three speaker inputs- two 16 ohm and one 8 ohm. I pretty...

Re: Going for heavy mids in OD2 - Hi-res 24 bit content

Actually I can appreciate someone paying that kind of attention to detail. I do it a lot with microphones that don't have a flat response. Sometimes you may want that bump in the frequency response but more times than not you might want to flatten it out with eq. Great job man.

Celestion G12M Heritage Review

I recently picked up an Avatar 4X12 with four Celestion G12M Heritage speakers. These are the English made re-issue Greenbacks rated at 20 watts. The cab is rated at 80 watts. I want to give a shoutout to fellow forum member Jeffp. We've become friends via this forum. He doesn't live far from me and...

Re: WGS Invaders - Mode 4 Cab - JVM205h

If you could post a clip of how it sounds it would be cool. I suspect they're Greenback emulations. I just picked up a used Avatar 4X12 with Celestion Greenback Heritage speakers. It's got the rock vibe for sure!

Re: Celestion Creamback Initial Review...

Yeah I dug Stingers demo too. I'd guess if you need to cut through the mix a bit more the Creambacks would help. The Greenies just have that kinda dark-ish (not in a bad way) and totally recognizable (at least to a lot of folks) vibe. I'd say the Creambacks are sonically between a Greenback and a V3...

Re: Changing speakers from V30's to Greenbacks?? JVM 205H..

I'd agree it's a great idea. I just picked up an Avatar cab with 4 12" Heritage Greenbacks. It does the rock thing in a special way. I compare it to a Mesa Rectifier 2X12 with V30's and a Marshall 1936 with GT75's. Frankly, for my taste, the V30's come in last (out of the three) although they could ...

Re: New speakers for orange cab + jvm 205h

Yeah Jeff, I put some hearing protectors on, plug my 205 into that Avatar, and it's rock and roll heaven man! I hope I can bring it to a larger venue to check it out in a live situation. I've been using it a lot in the studio! It gets first call for rock tracks- always!
