Re: What choke did Marshall use in the JVM410HJS?

I have searched everywhere, but I cannot find any information on the choke they used in the Satriani JVM. I have seen everything from 3H to 20H and 225mA. It isn't in the schematics, so if someone could please share I would appreciate it. I just physically looked at mine and there is nothing writte...

Re: good deals on Amp kits ?

Since we are talking amp kits, I'm wondering if anyone has thought of building the JVM preamp section (or the like) and putting it into a pedalboard? The turret boards for most Marshall style preamps are pretty clean (and flat) and I think you could easily mount the tubes in a horizontal position so...

Re: This would be my favorite - JVM 100H

I do know the sound of the old SLPs though and of all the modded Marshalls I have played especially in the early 80s and to my ears, and just my opinion, my favorite sounding amps were the modded JCM 800s. And this is the tone that I have found in the JVM 210 and I lucky to have found this sound in...

Re: This would be my favorite - JVM 100H

You could easily use an Arduino to control any relays inside via MIDI too. RockmanCentral you sound like you are in the serious "know" my friend! I had to look up what you were referring to because my knowledge is very limited with these things. But I'm wondering how hard it would be to strip it do...

For whatever program you are trying to use, look on Youtube for some tutorials.... I'm sure you're find something. Gibson is giving Cakewalk away for free now as long as you create an account for BandLab. See if these help.... https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Re: JVMHJS410 Muddiness

Lows are great when you are playing by yourself, but in a band mix it'll turn to mud real fast.
Pull out some of those lows and give your bassist and drummer some of that sonic space back.
You're mix will sound better and your guitar will cut through better too.

Re: Hello to all my old friends!

Wow, talk about a wall of sound!!!!! Looks like you have that set up in your garage.... open the door and jam for the neighbors!! Personally, I would go 2 full stacks on each side with some space in between them, use the 410 as my main sound, go out of the loop through a Rockman Stereo Chorus and St...

Re: Looking for simple recording software.

I've been using Cakewalk for 20 years, though I'm not a "power user". I have some sequenced tracks in MIDI that I ran through some really old tone generators and recorded as audio tracks. Many people say they sound like crap, but, whatever, they work for me. For what you are trying to do, it shouldn...

Re: Clipping diodes

Preamp tubes don't compress like power tubes, they clip much more directly (for want of a better term), so it isn't too hard to mimic that in solid-state. I did try adding some zener diodes to my HJS (or, could have been the regular JVM, don't recall) but I could never get the right zeners to match...

Re: It's been a while...

Funny how that happens. I've moved on from a lot of gear over the years and when I go back and try them again I'm reminded how usable some of them were/are. I think we often get drawn away by the latest thing when we had great things in the first place. I will say, the HJS is a loud MF!!! My ears w...

It's been a while...

...since I cranked up my JVM HJS, but I fired it up today and played through almost my whole set.
I gotta say, it's a damn great sounding amp!!
