Re: resistive Vs reactive loads effects on sound

kumbaya Anyone, How about some names for Casey's pedals ? that's a good name calling! Sorry OKGB, I just got tired of it. I felt I was being fairly diplomatic offering why I felt the technology was valuable in certain circumstances while not saying that using the old ways was in any way bad or wron...

Re: resistive Vs reactive loads effects on sound

Wow, what a reaction! Sounds like you are butthurt I stopped right there. If you don't get what I'm saying, then cool. We aren't on the same page, in the same book, or even at the same library. How would you know that I don't get what you are saying? You keep saying (twice now) that you aren't even...

Re: resistive Vs reactive loads effects on sound

I thought we got past this, Casey needs some new names on the other thread! Sorry about that.... just felt the need to set the record straight. But [ I said but ] in reference to the thread title, the old power soak can do as good a job as many of the fancy load boxes out there, and there's always ...

Re: resistive Vs reactive loads effects on sound

btw, although I own a rackmount rockman preamp & chorus [ for the compressed clean chorus sound of the 80's ] I think few would be caught dead using the overdrive sound these days, You'd be surprised! They can sound different than what you normally expect them to sound like out of the box, but it d...

Re: resistive Vs reactive loads effects on sound

I'm not dissecting all that. You win by attrition. You go ahead and "record" without touching a microphone. Who needs them, right? Mic placement? Pffft. Don't need it. Hell, you can "record" without actually making an actual sound! So easy! Yay! Sims, drum samples, IRs, and DAW dumbfuckery can be y...

Re: Designing New Effects Pedals

My wife certainly would argue with the genius part, but thanks. :)) LOL!!! Ah, well, it's all in context. We can be a genius in one area (say, electronics) and a total idiot in another area (ie- understanding women). Of course, women are the real geniuses because they know how to manipulate us to d...

Re: resistive Vs reactive loads effects on sound

That right there is why recorded music is mostly garbage now. It's puzzle pieces and fragments and totally inorganic. To make your same point, it all totally sounds the same. Amp sims, drum samples, totally sterile perfected and quantized mixes all sound the fucking same. No thanks. Just my opinion...

Re: Designing New Effects Pedals

Hi Casey...it's been a long time and I hope you and your stunningly beautiful wife are doing well. Merry Christmas to the both of you! And thanks for responding to these ideas.... Regarding the digital nature of the first idea, I never thought of it as a digital circuit. The Intensity effect came fr...

Re: resistive Vs reactive loads effects on sound

I get it. But there are many other benefits to using IR's. One, it saves time.... you don't have to set up your mics and take the time to get them positioned. Two, using the IR gives a perfectly repeatable sound in case you have to come back and re-record a part. This would have been a God send to ...

Re: resistive Vs reactive loads effects on sound

My point was that a studio doesn't have the loudness restrictions that piddly home bedroom studios often do, so no need to use cab impulses. I get it. But there are many other benefits to using IR's. One, it saves time.... you don't have to set up your mics and take the time to get them positioned....

Re: Designing New Effects Pedals

Here's a couple of ideas I've been kicking around for a long time.... I'll throw them out here so you can make a million off of them! LOL!! I always wanted to start with an intensity effect like I had on my Dad's old Gibson amp.... basically it was like an oscillator that would completely mute the s...

I don't see why a pro studio would bother with IRs though.
I think you answer this question yourself...

Re: Dirty Water

LOL!! You're right!! They look like maybe they are JCM2000 TSL's. I've got the HJS, so I'm not used to looking at the 205H. I was going from memory (obviously thinking of the 205C) with the 2 rows of knobs on the left side and the one set of knobs on the right side. I was being a little lazy and did...
