Re: Sold my JVM & got an Axe-Fx

thank you captain obvious, that's what I was using, the JSJVM Orange mode, [smilie-eyeroll] but I've gone back to just using my JVM without the Axe at all anyway. With an MXR 10 band in the loop I'm getting the best sounds I've ever gotten out of this thing. I'm probably switching over to a FriedMa...

Re: Sold my JVM & got an Axe-Fx

But why on earth would you run an AxeFx JVM model through an actual JVM? You already have a real JVM! WTF! smilie=icon_lol.gif Yeah, that seems silly - but the point he is trying to make is that amp modelling works great in a certain setup and depends on how we perceive tone. I use a Helix with my ...

Interesting the way he states that the amp was designed to sound good with all knobs set on 12 o'clock.
Plus he used a standard 1960A cab with G12T75's when testing the amp during the design.

Re: Differences in Tone when using FX loop

You can test the JVM fx loop by connecting a patch cable from the send into the return. You may experience a slight drop in volume which can be dealt with by adjusting the fx level knob, but there should be no change in tone. Even if an fx pedal has an input buffer, that won't be a guarantee that no...

Re: Is my 410H kaputt ?

... I think ill do it best by myself, change the tubes and set the bias, just learning it. This forums is full of that stuff and what i read for now shows my amp is not broke but the tubes may be aged and the bias set too cold. Ive bought that amp used already, dont even care for its age ^^ Im gonn...

Re: Is my 410H kaputt ?

I dont know nothing about the inside of my Amp, i should start learning it, but for now ill bring it to service. Learning this Amp is a long road to me, because all the knobs are VERY sensitive, changing the tone A LOT even on minimal adjustments. That made it so complicated for me, to find "my" to...

Re: Is my 410H kaputt ?

Hi Mick, Not sure your JVM is kaputt... Based on your evaluation, I am surprised you have kept that amp for 5 years and not sold it or taken it to a tech yet... The weird sound you describe could be tube related. The cold or stiff feel could be a low bias setting. Taking it to a tech to make sure so...

Re: Sold my JVM & got an Axe-Fx

I have and it sounds great , but I hate the thought of lugging everything around, one positive would be I get to use both cabs. I may try that tomorrow at rehearsal. Do you have the chance to try and run the Axe FX through the poweramp in of a guitar combo instead of a FRFR? The coloration of the g...

Re: Sold my JVM & got an Axe-Fx

Yeah... nothing like the real thing.

I have a Line6 Helix I use with my HJS (4 cables) and some presets bypass the HJS preamp and use a Helix preamp model instead. Sounds killer.

Did you try running the Axe FX into the JVM poweramp?

Re: Sold my JVM & got an Axe-Fx

I don't use any cab sims I dialed in these specific patches I use with the band straight through the Powestage into the cab. I don't like FRFR, I just don't gel with it. I'm going to use my Mesa cab again tomorrow night with my JVM head and see if we can hear a difference. That should sound pretty ...

Re: Sold my JVM & got an Axe-Fx

Most presets on devices like the AxeFX simulate a guitar amp running through a cab and being recorded with a mic. If you would run such a preset through an amp with a guitar cab again, that will change the sound too much. Especially the mids will suffer and that means you will not cut through a live...

Re: Weight of JVM215C Combo..."Head" only

My suggestion would have been to try floor amps, but you already tried that and it does not work for you. Personally, I don't think changing the head case is a good idea. A lot of weight of the head is from the amp itself and you want solid protection for your amp. If Marshall thought it would be ac...

Re: Best Way To Use a JVM 410H With an External Stereo Power Amp

Re-amping the speaker output of any amp is always tricky, but it is the best way to do re-amping IMO. The thing is that most reactive loads (like the Weber Mass) color the sound, as you mentioned. IMO these units are designed to attenuate speaker volume levels rather than transparant line level soun...
