Hi there,

Just yesterday I managed to make my GT-6 work ok with my JVM and I immediately saw a problem in switching - so I went and bought a MIDI cable, read some posts here and some articles there and started programming.

For our songs I only need 3 sounds:
"Loud distortion" - for instrumental parts, that means OD2 on Orange mode WITH master 2 higher than master 1
"Quiet distortion" - for parts with vocals, that means same channel only NO master 2
"Clean+Chorus" - for cleans, with chorus on the BOSS.

I need the BOSS' MIDI because I must switch from clean w/chorus to dist w/o chorus, and with MIDI I don't have to tap dance from the BOSS to the JVM footswitch.

So I need only 3 of the BOSS' 4 footswitches. Problem is, I accidentally assigned the fourth one to switch back to clean again. I later randomly assigned some switches - so I could get a hang of how programming works - and those control random stuff too.

These random switches (8-1, 8-2, 8-3, 8-4) don't bother me, because they are in a different bank (bank #8), so I don't need them. The one that bothers me is the fourth one in the bank that I DO need, 7-4.

So - here's my question: Is there a way to "unassign" the button(s) on the BOSS so that they control nothing?

Thanks!

Here is how I set up midi patches on gt-8

set up you patches and effects on each of the GT-8 patches and save them.
Here is how you set a JVM channel to a patch on GT patch 1
step on patch 2 set jvm channel to what you want it to be for gt patch 1.
push the midi button twice until it blinks steady then step on gt patch 1 pedal.
this causes the jvm to remember that when gt switchs to patch 1 it should be on this channel.
to set gt patch 2 step on patch 1 change JVM to what channel you want then hit midi key twice till it blinks then step on Gt patch 2. repat for other channels.

I make a basic patch on gt with no effects assign the Jvm Channel then add effects I want. Do A search and you will see some gt type tutorials

Well, thanks for your reply, but I didn't get my answer.

I already know how to program my BOSS and JVM, I just can't seem to find a way to tell the BOSS not to do anything when I press footswitch #4.

Nevertheless, I have found out that all the switches in all the banks are assigned to switch to the clean channel (green mode) by default. So, If they are assigned to a function even from scratch (factory settings of both the GT-6 and JVM), I guess there really is no way to "unprogram" them. [smilie=icon_sad.gif]

Guess I'll just have to watch my step onstage :D

Assign footswitch 4 to be the same as footswitch 3, so if you accidentally stomp on it then the effect will be
no change ... if you meant to stomp on footswitch 2 and stomp on 4 then maybe drink less on stage ? [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]

Heheh... Actually I can't drink because of a rare genetic enzyme defect... I have mild jaundice all the time and turn pretty yellow after a few drinks xD So that's out of the question :P

Yea I thought of that... But I tried playing to our songs with my usual "energy" and I found the GT-6's footswitches to be very comfortable... so I don't think I'll have trouble :D

Thanks for the answers.

Cheers [smilie=banana_smiley.gif]
