JVM doing some Volbeat

Post by MetalM89 » Tue Nov 04, 2014 8:00 pm

I have a little trailer of my band for you:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WYPi_GK2Vo

We are doing Volbeat-tribute, so of course two Marshalls are needed [smilie=icon_wink.gif]
Volbeat are basically using modified JCM800s with few to none effects which keeps things pretty easy.

I'm pretty happy with how good the JVM reaches the Volbeat tones.
Although their sound doesn't vary much, i'm using Clean green, Crunch green/orange/red,
OD1 orange and OD2 red depending on softer/heavier songs. Crunch red and OD1 orange
most of the time for the distorted sounds.

My guitar is on the left side of the mix with:
JVM 410 (higher bias, no mods)
Orange PPC 412 slope (V30s)
Dunlop KH95 Wah
NS-2
Sennheiser E906
Hagstrom Super Swede + Custom Explorer

My buddy on the right plays a TSL100 with a Fender cab (that he now wisely replaced with a 1960A), Duncan Pickups.

This gig was the first one with the Orange cab and the E906 so maybe settings and micing were not perfect.
I used a 1960AV before with the JVM but the Orange really impressed me, way ahead of the AV.
I also like the Sennheiser a lot more than the regular SM57.
JVM 410H
Orange PPC 412 slope

Boss NS2, TC polytune, Dunlop KH95-Wah, Line6 POD X3 Live
Samick Custom Explorer w/EMG 85/81, ESP Ltd M401 w/EMG 81/60 @18V,
Custom Flying-V w/SD SH6, Hagstrom Super Swede w/EMG 81TW/89R,
Strat-Copy w/DiMarzio Chopper (bridge)
