 Post subject: early Status Quo Sound ?!

hello jvmrocker!! im new here...

i search for a setting like the classic early status quo sound for RHYTMN and LEAD, best sounds are hold you back, whatever you want, rain & down down

i mean the hard punch crunch sound!!!

quo write he plays with jcm 800... but i think thats not true for this good drive crunch sound...

did have anyone tipps?

Try a Sound city and some distortion pedal. Think they used that and Marshalls back then. You see Marshalls on the Blue for you album cover.

with a jvm is this sound not possible??? like a soundcity?
distortion pedal? did you hear the different crunch sound? distortion are too heavy for that...

I know they played Sound City´s and Marshalls you can clearly see it on album covers and old video.s I´ve seen old footage and there Ross maybe Parfitt had one too ( don´t remember for sure)i had a pedal much likely a distortion pedal. Think he stomped on it for solos but( don´t really remembe thatr for sure either).

Location: zealand, netherlands
on the 410 clean red, with gain at 3 or 4 depending on guitar / pickups / string gauge
on the 210 or 205 clean green (will work on the 410 as well), with master volume and gain dimed (warn the neighbours!!!)
EQ at own taste, but i'd put the mids pretty high

Yeah and a Telecaster. Francis Rossi played a Gibson Flying V at times in the studio.
