410 HJS with 1960HW or 1960BX ?

Post by Stok » Fri Jun 02, 2017 9:48 am

Hey guys !

I was wondering if anyone have tried a 410HJS with a 1960 handwired or BX cab ?

I had a standard 1960a cab wich i loved but sold it to play on a 2x12XL v30 loaded ! (Small car lol)
now i'm planning on buying a new marshall 4x12 (bigger car XD) but i wonder how my amp will sound with those cab, espacially the HandWire, i don't remember hearing g12h30 for real in my life...

I play every style of music but jazz... from the beatles to Megadeth :p

Ok seems nobody have that head/cab combinaison lol, anyone of u have played any JVM in the 1960HW ?

I found a guy on youtube playing the HJS with the 1960 X greenback one, sounded pretty rock !

I use Greenbacks most of the time with my JVM. Greenbacks pretty much sound great with any Marshall.

If you like good tone, you'll like a Greenback cab.

The G12H30s are a bit darker than Vintage 30s. Very midrangey. Louder than Greenbacks. The heavy magnet of G12H30s makes them a little stiffer, whereas Greenback will break up and get cooking very easily. They're both great speakers.

I haven't personally, but I've heard a few JVMs through the new Creamback series. They sound pretty much like Greenbacks. Great speakers IMO. Greenback sound with higher wattage capability. The 65 watters anyway. I haven't heard the 75s.

Ok thanks ;)
I think i'm going to switch for creamback on my 2x12, i'm a little bored of the V30... and go for a greenback 4x12 to complete my cab collection ;) thank for your answers !

Sounds awesome, but you're gonna have a bunch of similar sounding speakers. That's no problem if that's what you want, but if you want some variety, try a G12H30 paired with the V30 in your 2x12. They complement each other very well. And of course a separate Greenback 4x12 would be fantastic no matter what.

Oh yeah 1 g12h30 and a V30, that's the 205c configuration if i remember well, this combo was my 1st JVM and sounded great , thanks for the advice i think this could be better than having a 4x12 greenback and 2x12 creamback ! Definitly gonna check this out ;) thank you !!
