WGS Invaders - Mode 4 Cab - JVM205h

Post by Marshall Maniac » Sat Aug 27, 2016 1:14 am

Just installed 16ohm WGS Invaders into my Marshall Mode 4x12 cab today.
They sound good so far, hopefully the treble smooths out a bit after break-in.
Nice speakers, that would be perfect for classic rock.
Some of the greenback woody character without the early breakup.
A tad louder than my G12-T75's and definitely more mids, but not that different in tone/crunch.
Clean tones are very nice.
Handsome looking speakers that are also lighter weight.

If you could post a clip of how it sounds it would be cool. I suspect they're Greenback emulations. I just picked up a used Avatar 4X12 with Celestion Greenback Heritage speakers. It's got the rock vibe for sure!

I'll see what I can do...not really set up to do clips.
The Invaders definitely do not break up as early as real greenbacks, and are a little louder (so far).

Been away, time for an update.
Mode 4 and Wgs Invaders gone.
Also went thru 1960BV, gone too.

Have a really broke in 1960A with old G12T75 speakers and really think it is a great match for my JVM205. Plenty of hate for these but no problem making up for scoop with midrange of Marshall. Just brings the crunch.
