Just wanted to tell you that I found company in Poland who has ECC823 JJ on stock. I just bought 2. Payed 28 euro including shipping.
Web site is : http://sklep.lampyelektronowe.pl/ or you can contact Roman via email sklep@lampyelektronowe.pl
Be aware, site is on Polish language.

Tube = lampy elektronowe
Chokes = Dlawiki

May I ask what position you are going to use this? And why?
JVM205h. Added 100K from R94/C43 to ground for V1b (OD Channel) gain reduction. Installed 1000pF in series with 47K, in parallel with R58 (82K), to reduce power amp squeal. V3 Valve Wizard diode protection mod. Active power soak for more EL34 goodness.
Guitars: Angus Young Sig SG w/ Pearly Gates Neck and Custom Custom Bridge, Les Paul Special (2 pups) w/ SD Stacked P90s. And occasionally a Warmoth Strat w/ Dimarzio True Velvet in N, M, SD P-Rails in B.
HD500x in 4CM for all pedals and Midi control of 205h (grounds lifted on two of the signal cables).

Reducing gain on overdrive chanel. Not sure if will work but its worth a try before I enter into "OD gain reduction by Casey".
I tried 5751 and AT7 in that position and didn't like it at all.

a JJ ECC823, reversed type 12DW7/ECC832 placed in V1 (under the metal can) will do it and will only affect OD orange and red
but it can be hard to find these tubes.

Please let us know what you think. Also please let us know where your OD Gain is set.

I have my OD Gain at 1 and have the V1b 100K to ground mod, which also adds a small amount of even harmonic distortion that I like in this channel.

Tubes came. Inserted into V1 (metal cap) and it works just like Big Dooley said.
Before I never used orange and red on OD chanel on my JVM. It was too much gain for me if I set something else than 1. Now I have complete functionality of it. There is no need for touching gain knob now when I switch from OD green to OD orange or red. I set OD green gain (3) so it sounds almost the same as clean/crunch red (5). Switching to orange and red on OD chanel just adds step by step more gain. For me perfect amount. (Just for the record I am using KT77 not EL34, 34mV bias). This is really nice and very simple solution for everyone who are not using high gain portion of JVM and do not want use soldering for gain reduction mod. There is one downside for me....I had to buy new footswitch with 6 switches since now I cannot decide what mode among those six should I play. smilie=icon_lol.gif

Oh and one more thing. I don't know if I am imagine it, but tone on clean/crunch channel sounds little less harsh now that I put JJ823 in V1. Before I had EH12AX7.

Could not agree more! - one nice side effect for me is that the amp sounds fuller on OD orange/red, as the gain can be opened up more without
going over the top.
Very happy with my JJ ECC 823 since 2014 :-)

Sold. I'll order one and try it. Eurotubes and TubeDepot both carry this in the states...

Finally installed this.

This tube instantly made OD Orange and Red usable. Edit: Using a JJ for V1b (in addition to V1b now effectively being a 12AU7) seemed to remove the brittleness and add warmth to these modes. Note I still have a 100K from R94/C43 to ground for V1b (OD Channel) gain reduction.

I prefer the China 6N4J for V1a, but this JJ made such a difference for OD Orange and Red that I'll accept the trade-off.
