i may be barbaric, but that's cork-sniffing to me
terms as added low end, enhanced midrange or high end sizzle, are the type of facts i find easy to understand
also the terms headroom, compression, definition or earlier break up are based on facts too

and i sure like to add there are way more variables when it comes to sound, then tubes alone...
the player itself, the guitar, the pickups, the strings, PT, OT, the amount of AC-voltage coming in, the bias setting, the amp settings, the cabs and speakers being used... and of course the room where you are playing in, will have far more effect

Jimmy,

I just completed my search for the warm, tight, crunchy sound that it sounds you are looking for. I agree with the others, changing out speakers is the way to go...big difference in tone. I started with Celestion V30's which were too ear piercing. I tried about 5 different types of speakers and one of my favorites with this amp is the Heritage G12H 30 watt speaker which is warm w/o sounding flubby or flat. If you want even warmer, the G12M's are a great choice but IMO the Scumback M75 can't be beat. Good luck!

Just remember, when you start changing speakers, there are more variables than you can shake a stick at. While Greenbacks may be described as "warmer", they also have early breakup which will alter your overdriven/distorted tones when you push them, which is fine if that's what you want. On the other hand, if you want all strings to ring loud and clear at higher volumes, you'll need a speaker more like the V30, which does not break up early.

I have tried JJ's, Tung Sol EL34B's, Mullards and the SED Winged C's. The Winged C's beat the rest on all fronts in my opinion.
