OK so I tried using the 4.7k/2.2k resistor method and it sounded horrible. Lots of buzz/ground noise but it was no longer clipping.
Just thought I'd share my results. [smilie=icon_confused.gif]

Sry, :yikes:
The method worked great at attenuating the outputs of my Eventide, I couldn't try the custom XLR to 1/4" Phono cable with my JVM because the cables were made only 6 ft long. (My amp is 25 feet away from my mixer)

Just connect the xlr end of the cable via a long mic cable to the jvm, and the phono end to the mixer [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]

Looks like a handy in line attenuator.

Thanks for the link, I just ordered one from a different company with 4.00 shipping, I think my bill came to 18-19. I figured it was worth a try. I have to run my gain ultra low to use XLR with my fa-101 set to almost 0. Hopefully this will allow me to turn the JVM up a little more without loosing signal through attenuation. I will follow up on my results when it arrives.

I posted a different post a few days and erased it, about the little attenuator I had bought and said it didn't work for my particular needs. I did not realize that what I thought was a 0 = off on the attenuation switch actually equaled 20 db attenuation. So I take back everything thing I said negative about this little device, it does indeed help at least in my particular situation. I have it plugged in between the xlr out into my edirol fa-101, my second jvm also goes into the edirol and it is constantly clipping without the device, and I have to really turn the jvm down to much and as a result and loose to much tone.

I liked this little device so much I ordered a second one for my second head. Now I can record through the xlr out on both amps without clipping and this little device is cheap and works great for my needs. Here is the cheapest place I found it and where I ordered it from, they only charged 4.00 for shipping.

Great info rocker - thanks for posting this!
I'm always looking for these little devices for recording; I especially like the fact that you have three levels for recording. The one I use now the signal is slightly lower than I'd like so this may due the trick!

Your welcome guys. Hopefully you find it useful for yourself also. I sometimes hate recommending things, but for 20.00 I guess you haven't lost a bunch if it don't suit your needs. I find anything but the first position, I believe it is -20db is overkill and totally steals the tone from my JVM but the first position seems to work pretty well for me. I kept pegging the meter on my fa-101 interface when I run hot out of the JVM. I am sure there are many better options out there and probably most of them are more expensive, this one seems to be working fine for me. Granted I am not a professional and don't have alot of money so please buy at your own risk and I wish you good luck.

DannyJoe, every once in a while I play your amazing grace from you tube, that is just flat out great. You really make one of my favorite songs even better.

Take care

Since I already had one.... I decided to put my THD Hot Plate to work. It does have a line out. I'm not like interested in the attenuation part, but I can go DI into my interface, still go through the power tubes. But I prefer to run that signal into my Studio Channel and adjust input levels so I'm not running too hot into the interface.

Then I found a plugin called Cabinet, from a company called Audio Ease. Five cabs including a rotary. $50 for the plugin.
