I do a lot of home recording and usually either run Pod Farm or some free amp sims into an Impulse Response file.

I was wondering if this is anyhow possible with the JVM, I use a Line6 Toneport KB37 which has this kind of connectivity at the rear:

I read in the manual that the emulated libne-out has speaker cab simulation and I would prefer using impulses. I am a bit worried that taking the output from the parallel or serial loop could damage my interface.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

hey guys anyone ever fiddled with IRs?

I really hate regular cab emulation, rubbish for recording IMHO.

I use this:

http://recabi.net/site/

to improve the speaker simulated sound, and run the impulses as a VST through KeFir. Besides, it's quite cheap.

regards

I think you should be fine to go out of the parallel loop (set to -10db) to the line input of your interface without damaging it.

That's what I ended up doing today, just went straight into the hi-z input with the switch to -10db, works like a charm :)

hey try running it the way green_bread suggested, I think you'll like it much more.

Now only do you bypass the solid state cab emulation but bear in mind an impulse is a sim of both the power section and the speakers, I think you'll see it's way less muffled and way more realistic than using the emulated line out.

Love this amp even more now [smilie=banana_smiley.gif]

But actually I have one DD-3 and the ISP Decimator G-String on that loop ... don't know how can I get the signal to the audio interface.

Guitar->G String Guitar Input->Output->Amp Input

FX Loop Send->G String Loop Input->DD-3->Recording Interface Line Input

You can also get a Y cable adapter so you can send the output from the DD-3 back to the amp's FX Loop Return and the recording interface at the same time.

FWIW if I decide to go direct, I use the line out from my Hot Plate direct to Studio Channel then to interface. Then in Pro Tools use either the cabs that come with Eleven Free or those I got with Recabinet depending upon the sound I'm after. Eleven LE has a slider for speaker breakup. I don't have that version. Typically I select the 412 with Greenbacks.
