Hello, name's Darin. (seems my last attempt to introduce myself didn't work.. so re-writing. Hope it doesn't duplicate).

Just got a 410c a little while ago and can only say WOW! This amp is amazing. Wicked high-gain, great pick-controllable breakup on Crunch, and a sweet, sweet Clean channel. Much experimentation to go, but so far I am even more pleased than I expected to be. I use a lot of tone variety when recording and this thing seems to do it all - and does all in a fantastic way.

So far, I have only played through my main guitar (a PRS Custom22 Artist), and it sounds just unbelievable. I'll get to the others, but having too much fun to switch out at the moment.

Plus (I must shamefully admit to being shallow I suppose) seeing that iconic Marshall black/gold/white lurking menacingly in my home studio just makes me grin like a fool. Even turned off it sounds great! (okay, was a bit over-the-top? I recognize my bias is showing (:>

I do have a problem that I'll raise in the Workbench section. Seems the first two switches on the footpeddle do nothing. Nothing at all. I have tried a factory-reset (which gave the appropriate LED-flicker) but no change. I can't program them or use them at all. The other 4 switches are just fine. This amp is brand new - can the switches really be bad or is there a simple test or solution I can try? (as noted, I'll post this quesion in the Workbench area).

Anyway, this looks like a great forum guys (and gals). Ton's on info, some cool sample tone settings (great idea!), and seems like a good set of folks. I look forward to discussing with you all.

Darin

Guitars:
PRS Custom22 Artist (my main and most magnificent guitar I've ever played)
PRS Starla (fast-approaching my main - just love it)
PRS Santana III (heavy, great great tone, but the scale-length (24.5") 24-fret board just doesn't quite work for me as well.
Plus some Fenders, Kramer, Peavey, Simon Patrick, and a few others

Have much fun fiddling and mostly playing your JVM! Be sure to try the Unorthodox Tone Settings in the Tone Settings, they really give the amp another personality.

Heheh in the past when I was shopping for a tube amp, I deliberately turned AWAY from Marshall, cuz I though that apart from the JCM800 and the Plexi, they make grade B amps. Until I tried a JVM in the local music store, it hit me straight in the heart. The point is, I also grin like an idiot on band practise when this bitch roars like hell behind me and the big white "Marshall" logo just gives away somekind of reassurring vibe, so you're not the only one that has a soft spot for Jim's white scribble [smilie=icon_mrgreen.gif] [smilie=icon_mrgreen.gif] [smilie=icon_mrgreen.gif]

Thanks Jackie.

Having a blast fiddling indeed - and yeah, I've browsed that Settings section. A great idea.

PS: I love your tag line. Lack of gain.. (:>

Cheers. Darin
