Dave Weiner in case you haven`t heard of him is the rhythm player for Steve Vai, he also has 2 albums of his own out...Shove the Sun Aside and On Revolute

aswell as playing in the Steve Vai band and doing his own solo work he plays in a jazz trio called Jace, teaches at GIT in LA and every Wednesday posts on YouTube Riff of the Week I think this is one of the best YouTube channel for guitarists `cos he posts a riff that can be expanded into your own compositions.

By far On Revolute was the best album I bought in 2010 covering lots of different genres, for me Ignition is the best track off the album....plus when you order the album you get a free guitar pick and it`s signed by him with a personal message [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]

Certainly in my top 3 favourite players

so he ain`t a Marshall user preferring VHT amps and PRS and Taylor guitars

Dave is a great player and I have seen him play with Vai before too. Steve Vai, Dave Weiner and Tony MacAlpine in one band. That was pretty hard to beat. Dave made this top 10 list of the "100 Gifted Guitarists Everyone Needs to Know, But May Not Have Heard Of." [smilie=icon_biggrin.gif] I posted this before in a Lincoln Brewster thread because he also made the list.

Marshall YJM100, Malmsteen Strats, SoCal Charvel and a bunch of pedals.

Yeah i saw him for the 1st time on that tour too, I was at the Astoria when they filmed the dvd its what introduced me to Dave, Party piece is a cool song to play but you really need a 7 string to get it sounding spot on.

Thanks for the tip on this one Scuba, cool song for sure. I think I have heard him play this, but I did not know the name of it. I have heard that Dave's most recent record is incredibly good. I think I need to get some new CD's. [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]

Great player, I used to follow his "lick of the week" issue but it stopped a while ago.

I watch Riff Of the week every Wedneday most of them are very useful, lick of the week is done by Rob Balducci and is nowhere near as informative, Rob is a good player but the in depth approach of Dave is much better
