First Wireless System

Post by slinky005 » Mon Jan 21, 2013 1:04 am

I have never used one . The one I have on loan (option to buy) is the Audio Technica R3100.
Essentially it works but I am getting major hiss with the JVM on OD1 yellow.
I tried a few different frequencies but no change. If anyone can shed any light it would be appreciated.

Not really. It is clearly not acceptable though to introduce hiss. I can confirm that there is no additional noise with normally functioning Wireless systems. I used to use Audio Tecnica Guitar Bugs and got no hiss with them either so I would be surprised if the system was not of professional design and quality.

Perhaps it is picking up interference from a particularly strong signal local to you?

I have a digital Line 6 system and I have yet to pick up any interference or noise.

Maybe try a different system?

I have Sennheiser Freeport. Snagged it when Guitar Center had it on sale for $100. I don't get any more hiss than normal with it, and it sounds great.

Problem is that the Instrument set seems to have been discontinued, although the Presentation set comes with a body pack like the instrument set......but I don't now where a guy could get the special cable that you need to plug a guitar into.

And they're back up to $250.

The G30 is around $300

I have a G50 and it has no signal loss...unless you choose to dial some in (it has a cable loss knob) for simulating long cables!?

Yup g50 and g90 are basically the same just ones a rack mount. As far as I can tell that's the only difference.

+1 on the G50. With the G50, I personally cannot tell the difference when wired or wireless. And I was a wireless skeptic.

+1 on the G50. It's a great piece of gear. Been using it for over a year and you can't beat it. No signal loss, no latency. Have never been able to tell the difference between it and a cable.

I have the g30..
I had some dropouts when I bought it, but i solved it by updating firmware to the latest one (2.0 i think).

Now it's working perfectly..
