Yea, just sold one of these on E-bay. It sounded great in the bedroom, but when I brought it to band practice.. oh man! Couldn't hear anything at all, other guitarist was like "dude turn it up, jeezchrist!!", I said, "Dude, it's all the way up" he was like, what is that that? It can't be a Marshall if it's all the way up.

Fast forward about 1 year later "Hey dude, what is that Marshall JVM? never heard of it, must be another solid state pos!! hahah!!". Well, needless to say, it blew his JCM800 away!! The entire band was mortified!
Suddenly I was Jesus! and thats the moral of the story! lol [smilie=icon_lol.gif]

Yeah, I have one of those old VS100's too. If you have too much midrange sucked out with the contour it can get buried pretty quickly. Still a cool amp, made famous by Chuck Schuldiner (DEATH) and Tommy Victor (PRONG), but I also agree that the JVM kills it! [smilie=icon_cool.gif]

I had one,,,once. Which led me in the search for tube amps. Not a bad bedroom amp, but it never had that half-stack (big) sound.

Back in the day,

I use to have a vs 8240 or 8280. I actually wish I still had it. All I remember is a beautifull stereo reverb (and chorus) I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Although, back then - it was always played in the bedroom.
