Anyone have any opinions on the EVH phase 90 and EVH flanger? Are they good, bad, worth it, good bang for the buck. Even if your not an EVH fan and not trying to get his tone, are they a good choice for a phase and flange?

The EVH Phaser is the one that I had a lend of for a week. Its very good. I remember thinking "this is a damn good product that sounds just like EVH". I've got a handful of vintage Phasers , so I havnt bought an EVH one, but I do look out for a good deal on one at Ebay.

I have both on my pedalboard right now. I find them to be very good. Expecially the Phase 90. One knob, one switch, Great! The Flanger is very good too. I mainly use the EVH setting on this pedal and it is just right for what I am looking for. I have not experimented to much with the knobs. Definetly recommend!

Cheers

I bought both of them. Pretty impressive. Yeah they are sig. pedals but they're about $30 more than the originals and they are basically 2 pedals in one. I think its a good deal. And they sound pretty impressive.

Being one who is so intent on nailing that early Eddie sound with my JVM and guitars, I have to say that the EVH phaser I have is also one of the finest additions to hitting that brown sound!

I bought the MXR EVH Phase 90 and the EVH Flanger, both use true bypass 3PDT foot switches (excellent pro analog) the Phase 90 has a slight boost which I love. The Flanger is 18v for improved headroom yet the Phase 90 has great headroom as well.

The blue LED on the Phase 90 is insanely bright! :yikes: [smilie=icon_cool.gif]

Just curious as to whether you get a hiss increase with the phase 90 pluggeed in to your rig in OD1 orange or other higher gain modes?

It's quiet, but I can't answer your question because I hardwired the EVH Phase 90 in my pedal board going to the JVM input, I prefer the sound of the Flanger and Phase before the amp, if I need a Phaser Flanger Univibe,. in my Loop I can get them from my GT-8.

I get a slight bit of extra hiss with the Phase 90 engaged, never enough that I thought it was a problem though. And with the ISP G-String everything is quiet and the hiss is zero.

I didnt notice you had the ISP g string. I want one badly but am concerned about tone suck. They are also hard to get hold of in the UK and ideally i would like to try before i splash out in a £150 pedal!

rjboodell: I did the test on the Phase 90 without the ISP connected, the hiss increased slightly. But with the ISP connected I didn't notice it at all. I only bought the G-string a couple of days ago, its fantastic. I haven't noticed any tone sucking yet, if its there it is very minimal. And that may only have to do with my rig configuration. I tried 2 cable, then hooked it up for 4 cable but haven't tried it yet. Honestly though, I know its expensive and I was hesitant myself (I have a 30 day return policy) but I think it was money well spent, and I can use it with any amp I ever own. Its definitely a keeper as far as I'm concerned.

Gearjunkie: I have been to and indeed started many posts on here regarding the ISP, this however could be the one that finally sways me over to N-R pedals usage!!!

I have a couple of Tungsol valves arriving soon in an attempt to eliminate that awful squeal commonly associated with the higher gain settings, in particular my OD1 orange!

I also have a marshall regenerator in the post as my chorus pedal increases the hiss a bit too, if these pedals still cause problems i'll splash out on the ISP.

I would love to try the EVH flanger but the new marshall has one built in and for what I use flange effects it would probably be a waste of money, I am also interested in having a look at the EVH wah by dunlop. My crybaby is fine but I need to mod her to put an LED in!

Try and find a store that has a (at the least) 10 day if not satisfied bring it back policy. I'm actually not a fan of flangers and high gain (Eddie did it cool though, and a few other guys) I like Flangers on clean tones. I'll date myself but listen to the clean tones on the Def Lep song "Love bites" I love that clean slow swirl, just can't get that with a chorus. If your looking at the EVH wah give the 535Q a try. Its cheaper and probably the most versatile wah that dunlop makes.
