Well, after some forum researching and some invaluable help from Lurchhammer (thanks a million, Lurch...¡¡), I finally got myself a TC Electronic G-System.
My previous pedal was a GT-10, a great unit by all means, but with some "dynmics stealing" when conected to the JVM via 4cm.
The G-System is an amazing unit. Everything you've heard about it, well, it is true. Delays and Chorus are amazing, and the Intelligent Pitch Shifter (aka Harmonazer) is incredible good and usable.
4cm is easy and works great, although with some help form Erpece, from G-System's forum. I heard some rumours about noise with this configuration. Not in my case, everything exactly the same with or without the G-System in the loop.
Only drawback: you have to tweak the input gain every time you change the guitar. If I kept the Lace Sensors level of my STRAT when I connect my Les Paul Studio, I get digital clipping. I guess it shoud be an easier way of changing input levels. But that is a minor drawback, and I am sure it has some answer at the G-System's Forum.
A great feature are the switchable loops. Basically, you can link your favorite stomp boxes of the past and get it at the press of a button, or within a programmed patch, and at any place in the fx chain. In my case, I am happy I could include my TS-9 and my MXR Phase 90 EVH.

I will post again with some more experience and programming, feel free to ask me, I will try to answer.

Regards,
Martin

Ah shit. Its been a while since anyone mentioned the G-System on the board and I was just loosing my GAS for the device [smilie=icon_wink.gif] Now it is all coming back.

Good to hear the positive review. Thanks.

Hi martinoto,

i'm also a G-System User, but with my JVM i don't get this thing working properly.
You do not have any noise? I can't believe this, because i get plenty of it when i'm using the JVM with the G-System.

So maybe, you can get a bit more detailed on how you hooked up yours?

Which loop are you using on the JVM?
Do you get any noise when your just plugging your guitar into Input of G-System and then from G-Systems Insert Send to JVM Input?
That is the big problem on my setup...

Thanks and greets
Matthias

Matthias, Sorry for not answering esarlier ¡¡¡ I totally missed your post, I did not receive any message telling me that someone has answered mine ¡¡¡

Anyway, I hope it is not too late....

- I am using the serial/parallel loop, at 100% wet (pot full right)
- I am having exactly the same kind of noise with or without the G-System in the loop, and all came from OD1 - OD2 channels. In my case, RFI noise.... nothing serious anyway.

Laird Williams' paper helped a lot, but I think all amps are different, and reacts different.... I am still having some parameters to improve, but overall I got what I was looking for: transparency.

Please let me know if you need further detail on my setup,

Thanks and regards,
Martin

I bought a G-system last weekend, and I'm loving it! 4 cable method, ISP deci G string and Laird's paper on set up = works flawless from the get go. Have not had any problems so far.

Green with envy over here [smilie=icon_mrgreen.gif] Had the G system on trial for a couple of days and it's the best multi out there by a long way imho. The sounds are just soooooo thick and ooze quality. Cool that you connect up the Nova drive as well
It's no 1 on my wish list if I ever scrape the pennies together

I set mine up from scratch using Laird Williams' paper. (didn't even demo it, I set it up first). He explains how to change all the default levels for optimal performance and how to diagnose all the areas that cause noise. Mine sounds fantastic. Right from the start. I use the ISP G string and everything is dead silent. And the midi switching is flawless. I also run some of my other effects in the front with the extra loops. No tap dancing required. And the Intelligent pitch shifter is really good! This is the perfect rig (for me anyway). Laird Williams' paper is here:

Only thing you will notice with 4CM, that volume will drop when switchable fx loop (100% wet) is connected. To solve this set boost to on. Then it will work flawlessly with the JVM.
